In this thesis, a remarkable Pt mass activity of 1.77 A $mg^{-1}$ Pt (at -100 mV) was achieved by utilizing Pt, which is known as highly active catalysts in hydrogen evolution, as form of nanocube and drop-casted Pt onto the substrate. Also the strategy was expanded as electrocatalyst for photocathode, and high onset potential as 0.678 V against the reference hydrogen electrode and long-term operation stability over 9.5 hours. Furthermore, this thesis proposes not only electrochemical hydrogen evolution, but also the necessity of ammonia synthesis through electrochemical nitrogen reduction which is emerging as a new field in electrochemistry. Experimental results of attempts to produce ammonia through Tin(IV) sulfide catalysts were shown, and future prospects and research directions were suggested.
