By analyzing the impact energy effects, impact resistance of CFRP composite plate is investigated using LS DYNA. For accurate simulations, a finite element model is developed and validated through comparison of time-force curves and damage profiles from simulations and experiments. Numerical simulations are performed to find the safe, critically safe, and failure energies for four different conditions: constant velocity, constant mass, constant energy, and different energies. Results show that for constant velocity, constant mass, and different energy conditions, the composite plates fail at 77.492 J, 74.649 J, and 75.990 J, respectively, and no failure was observed for constant energy conditions.
