This paper proposes a separated shielding coil showing an excellent shielding effect even in a wireless power transfer (WPT) system in which a misalignment between a transmitting (TX) coil and a receiving (RX) coil occurs. In this paper, the effect of the leakage magnetic field due to misalignment is analyzed, and the shielding effect using the proposed shielding coil is confirmed by simulation. For the analysis, an electric vehicle (EV) wireless charging system with possible misalignment was selected, and simulations were conducted on the standard SAE J2954 model for EV wireless charging. The proposed shielding coil showed an excellent shielding effect unlike the conventional shielding coil in an area where the leakage magnetic field is significant due to misalignment.
