As real-time data collection and processing technologies advanced, the demands for customized beauty services have been rapidly increasing. However, existing SBM services are limited to providing results-driven services, such as virtual makeup try-on, than customized services for each makeup process. They are insufficient to address the appearance differences and shortcomings of individual users. Therefore, this study aims to develop a new Product-Service System Design (PSSD) of SBM based on the individual needs and makeup routines of users. Employing the Double Diamond approach, we started off with a case study of SBMs and an in-depth interview with an industry expert to understand the positioning and limitations of existing SBMs used by beauty brands. For suggesting a user-centered interface for customized service, we conducted a survey and an interview with a makeup artist to identify individual users’ needs and makeup routines. This paper presents the user persona, the service blueprint, and the wireframe of our PSSD solution of SBM. Our design integrates real-time face-type recognition and rule-based analysis to systemize personalized process-oriented makeup recommendation services. Our system will improve the user experience by providing proper user-centered interfaces and supporting its innate reasoning features. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.-
