CIGS, CdTe, Perovskite compounds showing high energy conversion efficiency have limitations with containing toxic (Cd, Pb) and rare (In, Te) elements. To overcome those fatal issues, numerous studies have been conducted for earth-abundant and low-toxic chacognide materials. Especially, research on controlling the material properties of chalcognide suitable for energy conversion devices is necessary. In this thesis, we controlled the electrical and optical properties of the materials (SnSe, Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4, Sb2Se3) by controlling defects existing on the surface and bulk of chalcognide thin films. We also dealt with the investigation and performance interpretation of energy conversion devices fabricated by properties-tuned chalcogenide materials.
