The scope of work concerned the polymerization process disign of a complete acrylic fiber manufacturing process, starting with domestically available raw materials and proceeding to a finished staple fiber. For that purpose a series of test-tube experiments and mini-plant operation were performed to procure the fundamental data, reaction kinetics, and etc. From the test-tube experiments the number of order of the reaction was found to be 1.20 order at $50\,^\circ\!C$. It was easy to control the rate of reaction around 70\% conversion and 4 hours of reaction time. At that time viscosity of dope solution for good acrylic fiber was around 100,000 CP. The commercial plant with the capacity of 5.5 Ton-PAN/Day was scaled up with the data from the operation of miniplant. It consists of two reactor trains with each capacity of 3,000 liters.
