New exhibitions using AR technology are emerging in exhibition venues such as museums. As most people carry smartphones, museum visitors can easily enjoy AR exhibitions by using their smartphone cameras. However, most current AR exhibitions operate in an auxiliary form by recognizing the image of the actual exhibit. In this paper, we propose a new AR framework that works with an indoor positioning technique for large-scale museum exhibitions. The proposed system estimates the user’s location and guides the AR exhibits available at the location. The results of high accuracy were obtained through the experiment, which shows that it can provide convenient and attractive AR exhibitions to visitors.
