입자 분리 장치는 유로, 유입부 및 유출부를 포함한다. 상기 유로는 입구와 출구를 가지며, 유체의 흐름을 위한 공간을 제공한다. 상기 유입부는 상기 입구에 구비되며, 제1 밀도를 갖는 제1 유체 및 상기 제1 밀도보다 높은 밀도를 갖는 제2 유체가 상기 유로 내에서 층을 이루어 흐르도록 서로 다른 밀도들을 갖는 제1 및 제2 미소입자들과 함께 상기 제1 및 제2 유체들을 상기 유로에 도입시킨다. 상기 유출부는 상기 출구에 구비되며, 상기 제1 및 제2 유체들을 분리하여 각각 유출시키고 상기 분리된 제1 및 제2 유체들 내에 각각 포함된 상기 제1 및 제2 미소입자들을 수집한다.
