This study developed a new methodology for expediting the cable-stayed bridge construction process using 3D laser scanning. The developed methodology can be applied to the cable-stayed bridge constructed by thermal expansion based key segment closing method, in case of hydraulic jack based setback procedure is impossible. In conventional thermal expansion based key segment closing method, the last regular segment install-measurement-key segment fabrication should be subsequently performed. However, the methodology developed in this study use 3D laser scanning to measure before installing the last regular segment and predict the dimension of the key segment, so that can perform installing last regular segment and key segment fabrication parallel. The methodology developed in this study was applied to Cheonsa Bridge in South Korea, reducing the construction time 10 days.
