PC is produced by two manufacturing methods: interfacial process and melt process. Interfacial process PC has little side reaction and shows stable properties. Melt process PC has branch by Fries- rearrangement, and is terminated without closing polymer ends. As a result, PCs of the two methods show differences in physical properties. Among those characteristics, Fries branch affects the rheological behavior of PC. The characteristics of viscosity and modulus behavior are analyzed by rotational rheometer and the characteristics during injection and extrusion processing are studied comparing with interfacial process PC. Since melt process PC is polymerized in the bulk phase, the physical properties of the final product are affected by the mole ratio of BPA and DPC initially introduced. This feature means that the physical properties can be predicted by the theory of molecular size distribution proposed by Flory. In this study, the formula for the OH end-group content and the BPA residue according to the input ratio of BPA and DPC was derived using the Flory equation, and the method of management and improvement was suggested.
