The research of fluid-flexible body interaction is not only used to analyze various phenomena in nature, but also widely used in the many problems in the industrial fields. Researches on the flying birds, fish propulsions, and eco-friendly energy harvesting system using fluttering motion of structures are a typical field of analysis of natural phenomena. Insight of the natural systems obtained through fluid-flexible body interaction are expected to contribute significantly to the efficiency of the propulsion of planes and automobiles and to the stability of offshore plants and marine structures. The immersed boundary method is presented to examine fluid-flexible body interaction. In the present thesis, an improved version of immersed boundary method has proposed to analyze fluid-flexible body interaction and it is applied to various phenomena of the natural systems by further improvement and application. The results determined by the immersed boundary theory of the present study can suggest the idea of developing eco-friendly energy harvesting system and optimizing propulsion motion of fishes.
