In this study, modified gain pseudo-measurements filter (MGPMF) is used for tracking of ballistic targets in the terminal engagement. The on-board passive sensor measures LOS angles of the target and the measurements from a ground based radar (GBR) are incorporated to overcome the observability problem. To improve the accuracy of the target model, the ballistic coefficient is treated as a state variable to be estimated. The filter is then combined with impact-angle-control guidance law for terminal homing. Under the situation of low GBR update rate, Monte Carlo simulation is conducted to compare the performance of MGPMF with that of EKF in terms of filter stability and miss distance.
