While the lath martensitic steel is produced through quenching and heat treatment,substructures such as blocks and packets are formed within the grain. Block or packet is substructure which makes much more high angle boundaries than prior austenite grain. Furthermore, when applying Hall-Petch relationship, block and packet as well as prior austenite grain obeyed this equation indicating strengthening effect of substructures. Therefore, in this study, we conducted uniaxial micro-compression test on samples with substructure boundaries to investigate the effect of substructures on mechanical properties and plastic deformation behavior by observing the interaction between dislocation slip and interface.
