The issue of climate-health is an increasingly important topic in current environmental and global health studies. In this realm, this study investigates the long-term impact of fine dust on respiratory diseases and estimates the economic costs related to these deaths. To be specific, this paper attempts to measure the long-term influence of fine dust on respiratory disease mortality and document the economic costs related to these respiratory-health effects. Furthermore, I analyze mortality rates instead of incidence due to data limitation on time series information regarding global data on incidence of respiratory diseases. I document a strong correlation between the past FDI and the future respiratory disease mortality and then combine this result with estimates of the “normal” level of mortality to construct a measure of capitalized FDI (FDI Sum). The presented evidence demonstrates that damages from the FDI Sum persist for several years.
