dc.description.abstractThe guided-wave interconnection method with 250GHz on-chip CMOS transceiver is pre-sented. To improve the SNR, high on/off ratio OOK modulator with resonance control va-ractors is proposed which switches series resonance frequencies of a transmission line reso-nator with two varactors. The resonance frequency is altered by the control voltage of the varactors. Through switching resonance, high on/off ratio is implemented. High-speed mod-ulation is possible due to small RC time constant associated to a control voltage node. The transmitter for short distance communication is implemented which is consist of trans-former-based push-push VCO and the resonance switching modulator. The efficiency is im-proved through not using PA. The gate-source cross-coupled envelope detector is analyzed aspect of responsivity, noise, and rejection of RF leakage. In 250GHz frequency, the transistor has low gain and it is difficult to design a LNA. Therefore, the gate-source cross-couple $G_m$-boosting technique is used to improve the sensitivity of receiver. The receiver for short distance communication is implemented which consist of gate-source cross-coupled envelope detector and baseband amplifier. The efficiency is improved through not using LNA.-
