With the development of high-energy density battery technologies, interests on sodium-based materials have been revisited on account of natural abundance of sodium and relatively lower cost than lithium resources. The interest in next-generation batteries is continuously increasing, and research has been conducted on the transition metal based materials for the development of anode materials for high-energy density sodium secondary batteries capable of meeting these requirements. In this thesis, a multi-dimensional method was investigated to reduce the life span due to the volumetric expansion and irreversibility associated with charge and discharge of transition metal materials. Through various ex-situ tests, the reaction mechanism of each electrode material was clearly understood, and the possibility of development and commercialization of the anode material for the sodium secondary battery was evaluated.
