Electrochemical water splitting for hydrogen production is one of the efficient and eco-friendly method. Among the various kinds of electrocatalysts for hydrogen production, molybdenum sulfide has insufficient activity for hydrogen evolution reaction due to low electrical conductivity and narrow active site though molybdenum sulfide possesses excellent hydrogen adsorption property. In this study, carbon materials were introduced into molybdenum sulfide based electrocatalyst to improve the electrical conductivity. In addition, electrochemical active site in molybdenum sulfide was investigated using various analyses, and enrichment of active site in molybdenum sulfide was conducted by chemical modulation.
