In process plant construction projects, a library for equipment and material catalogs should be constructed to support plant design using a plant 3D CAD system. In practice, catalogs are manually generated; this is error-prone and time-consuming. Therefore, developing a system to automatically create catalogs with reduced human intervention is necessary. To accomplish this, we analyze requirements regarding the catalog generation for equipment and materials, large equipment, and skids in the process plant industry. Based on the requirements, we define a catalog generation process, develop a neutral catalog model, and then design a neutral model-based catalog generation system.
