dc.description.abstractThis thesis considers the effective concatenated coding scheme which has the good diversity order and the good coding gain in the block-fading channels with large L. This scheme is called a RS-LDPC concatenated code. The inner RS code and the outer LDPC code is related with the diversity order and the coding gain respectively. We suggest a simple guideline of the RS-LDPC code for using it properly in the block-fading channels. Then the diversity order of the RS-LDPC code can close to the maximum achievable diversity order, and the coding gain outperforms conventionally used code. Since a performance analysis technique of the RS-LDPC code exists, the tight diversity order of the RS-LDPC codes can be computed via simple simulations. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the RS-LDPC code is proper for the block-fading channels, which are decoding delay constrained systems, with large L by showing that the RS-LDPC code has low decoding complexity to obtain better performance than comparisons.-
