dc.description.abstractAs video traffic increases with plentiful multimedia services and the proliferation of mobile devices such as smartphone, stream mining is getting attention to extract valuable information out of multimedia big data. By applying mobile cloud computing to this stream mining, resource-scarce mobile devices could offload the workload of heavy applications to a remote cloud. However, resource provisioning for task scheduling is inherent challenge of stream mining in cloud computing. In this paper, extending the stream mining, we consider problem of resource provisioning and bitrate scaling for a multimedia big data processing. We aim to minimize the virtual machine (VM) leasing cost and the error cost while satisfying deadline constraint. Then, we develop a bitrate scaling and task scheduling algorithm that finds optimal bitrate & task scheduling strategy. Our simulation result shows the efficiency of bitrate scaling in task scheduling in cloud computing environment.-
