금속 나노 입자의 표면 플라즈몬을 이용한 유기 발광 소자는, 양극 위에 형성되는 정공 수송층과, 정공 수송층 위에 형성되고, 희토류 금속 유기 화합물을 포함하는 발광층과, 발광층 위에 형성되는 제1 금속 나노 입자와, 제1 금속 나노 입자 위에 형성되는 전자 수송층과, 전자 수송층 위에 형성되는 전자 주입층과, 전자 주입층 위에 형성되는 음극을 포함한다. 제1 금속 나노 입자는 금속인 중심핵, 및 중심핵을 코팅하는 유전체 껍질을 포함한다.
