In this paper, we present a procedure for reliable estimation of the respiration rate using UWB impulse radar. We initially extract the respiratory signal using the energy detector to reduce the effect of the multipath impulse response of the human body. Then, the noise subspace methods are applied to estimate the respiration-rate more accurately. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more reliable than the conventional method. © 2013 IEEE.-
