In this presentation, I plan to share my experience as an academic in the U.S. and Korea. Though excellence in research and education is what is being pursued in both places, there are clear differences in the way this is done, perhaps due to cultural disparities. By bringing these differences to attention, it is hoped that the two sides will be better understood by each other and those who contemplate similar career paths will benefit.-
