The luminescent emittance color of non-emissive polystyrene (PS) is varied from blue to white by irradiation with an electron beam. Desired luminescent nanoarchitectures and nanopatterns are produced in straightforward manner by direct electron-beam writing and by irradiating well-defined PS nanoarchitectures prepared by various bottom-up approaches.
