dc.description.abstract | Though a new type of video game as Nintendo’s Wii is drawing public attention for their innovative method of interaction, the research on the definition itself for the new type of game is scarce. Based on the different style of game playing, significant involvement of the physical movement during the game, a novel approach to the digital video game and the dimension of player-to-game control are suggested as the most distinguished feature of those games. The new type of game is therefore newly defined as multi-dimensional control games. In addition to this, field of digital video game development can be established by two properties, the dimension of player-to-game control and the level of game-to-player response. Newly defined nine sections on the categorization of digital video games can be used as a guideline for the development of new digital video games. | - |
