dc.description.abstractThis study described how to design the LNG fuel containment system and how to apply it to a large merchant carrier. LNG was the most environment-friendly, economical, and promising fuel in field of shipping industry. The vessels, which are using LNG, have been called ‘Gas Fuelled Ships’. This kind of ships had LNG Fuel-Gas-Supply (LNG-FGS) System and it used the LNG fuel instead of Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) for ship`s propulsion. The heat ingress from outside of the tank generated the pressure risen of LNG in the storage tank due to Boil-Off-Gas (BOG) occurred. To contain Pressurized LNG in a storage tank, the gas containment system had to be a type of pressure vessels. In this study, Lattice Pressure Vessel (LPV) had been newly intro-duced as storage tank. It was the most outstanding tank to store much liquid gas than other conventional tanks. By applying Lattice Pressure Vessel to LNG Fuelled AFRAMAX Tanker, this study had approved its utility and feasibility for a large carrier.eng
