dc.description.abstract | A multiphysics analysis was performed to investigate the phenomena of a linear control solenoid valve and analyze its design parameters under various external conditions. Axially symmetrical simulations were carried out to investigate simultaneously the phenomena of the electromagnetic field and the flow field coupled with a spring-mass-damper system. The spool stroke in a valve was determined by the balance between the forces, i.e. an electromagnetic force, a hydraulic force, a spring force, and a damping force. In turn, the spool stroke influenced these forces; the system included a two-way coupling problem. The Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method was employed to describe the dynamic behavior of the system. The simulation results were compared with experimental data to ascertain their accuracy and reliability. Magnetostatic analysis showed that a constant electromagnetic force could be obtained in the linear control solenoid valve because of the leakage of the magnetic flux at the core cone. In the multiphysics analysis, the controllable pressure range of the valve was found to be i=0.18~0.84 A owing to the hydraulic fore, which depended on the supplied pressure pushed the spool forward and enabled a wider controllable range. Although the supplied pressure improved the system linearity, a critical supplied pressure was required to ensure the linearity of the linear control solenoid valve. The effects of varying the rising time and the maximum external current on the behavior of the valve and its pressure sensitivities were examined. In addition, the geometrical redesign was conducted to ensure the controllable range of the linear control solenoid valve by the multiphysics analysis. The redesign II model, which had improved the core cone and the equivalent orifice area (EOA) was proposed. The core cone enabled the maintenance of a constant electromagnetic force despite variation in the spool stroke and the EOA with the spool stroke characterized the pr... | eng |
