Synthesis of new binder polymers for dye-based color resists염료 컬러 레지스트에 쓰이는 바인더 폴리머의 합성에 관한 연구

The purpose of the present study was to synthesize binder polymers with various monomer compositions for dye-based color resists. Dye-based color resists have been researched due to reduced light scattering in comparison with widely used pigment-based color resists. Binder polymers were designed to enhance compatibility with dyes. One of the polymers was synthesized using acrylic acid (AA), benzyl methacrylate (BzMA) and 4-acryloylmorpholine (ACMO) and the other was synthesized using acrylic acid (AA), 2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (METAC) and benzyl methacrylate (BzMA) by free radical polymerization.The synthesized binder polymer gives better dispersion and less agglomeration of the dye than the conventional binder polymer. In addition, it was possible to obtain micro-sized patterns with synthesized binder polymers introduced color resists without decolorizing of patterns. We conclude that the new polymer, poly(AA-co-ACMO-co-BzMA) and poly(AA-co-METAC-co-BzMA) could be used as a binder polymer in the dye-based color resists for LCD display panel.
