dc.description.abstract | Abstract Information technology (IT) is one of the critical components for most organizations to be competitive in the market. Both public and private organizations are making use of IT intensively than ever before so that they meet their visions and missions. This has resulted in a high dependency of IT. IT governance is a subset of enterprise governance whereby IT resources and processes are managed. IT governance involves the alignment of IT strategy and business strategy, IT resources management, value delivery and performance measurement. Where IT can be the partner of the business and help achieve the companies’ goals. This study, investigates the IT governance of Ethiopian Financial sector, taking Commercial Bank of Ethiopia as a case based on the four domains of the IT governance including strategic alignment, IT resource management, IT risk management and performance measurement. Interviews and survey questions were used to collect data from the bank. After analyzing the current situation at CBE and considering other countries experience, a framework is proposed for the future proper implementation of IT governance in the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.
