This paper proposes a measure called the satisfaction function which estimates the satisfaction degree of arithmetic comparison relations (such as >, <, =) between two fuzzy values. A method to generate a fuzzy preference relation for fuzzily evaluated alternatives is introduced on the basis of the satisfaction function. In addition, a ranking method is proposed which can be applied to the fuzzy preference relation. To show its validity, this method is compared to several other ranking methods.
