The major drawback of iterative receivers is more power consumption and longer latency due to iterations even though iterative receivers can enjoy a good compromise between complexity and performance. Motivated by these issues, we study a simple power allocation strategy in the transmitter side to alleviate the burden in an iterative receiver with interference cancellation by improving convergence rate. We analyze asymmetric power allocation with the extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart technique and show that the convergence rate (as well as performance) can be improved.
