In industry, the most common data exchange method is to use the international standard that is based on B-rep (boundary representation). However, when we translate a CAD model into a B-rep model, it is difficult to change the design parameters because a B-rep model has no parametric information or history information. So, there have been several studies or software to change the design parameters using the B-rep model. However, these methods are still not satisfactory in terms of either performance or interoperability. Therefore, in this study we propose a methodology to create history information from the B-rep model in order to change the design parameters of the B-rep model with volume decomposition, design feature mapping and design feature sequencing. Finally, we represent the created history information using a neutral CAD format that is proposed in the Macro-parametrics approach. © 2012 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.
