The radar system utilizes chirp signals in order to increase range and Doppler resolutions. In general, there are two types of chirp signals: linear frequency-modulated signals (LFM) and non-linear frequency-modulated signals (NLFM) [1]. It depends on the type of frequency sweep function. For time-sidelobe suppression, the NLFM waveform does not require amplitude weighting. Therefore, the maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) performance of the system is maintained. However, pulse compression of the NLFM signal also leads to widening of the mainlobe. The detection rate of the NLFM waveform is also superior [1]. The different techniques for generation of NLFM signals have also been proposed by various researchers [2-4]. In this paper, a NLFM signal generation technique based on window function has been presented.
