Bluetooth wireless technology is a global de facto standard that enables short-range wireless connections between portable devices. Most mobile phones, PDAs and lab-tops will use Bluetooth in the near future. Today, most people carry a mobile phone or PDA. Exchanging multimedia electronic name cards using mobile phone or PDA will be a promising application for these devices. If the user interface can be made as simple as exchanging a printed business card, exchanging the electronic name cards over Bluetooth can replace the printed one. Even if these kind of applications are symmetrical in nature, the current Bluetooth specification is not adequate to support short peer-to-peer transactions requiring symmetric user interface and fast transaction. In this thesis, we propose a simple, symmetric inquiry procedure suitable for applications such as name card exchange. We simulate in various cases that change parameters to evaluate the performance of our scheme, and we consider the main issues to design random inquiry model and present the performance evaluation procedure for random inquiry. We also propose modified random inquiry procedure suitable for multiple users and evaluate the performance of this scheme.
