Evaluating MIS in Algeria ports : the case of port authority of Algiers

Abstract

Seaport has much important in economy of each country. It is the strong part of chain of foreigner trades and also supplies chain of national industry. Quality of services provide by ports has significant impact on all chain. In order to enhance their services many port authority have widely used IT in daily activities. That helps them to reduce time and give manger sufficient information to take decision. This work tries to explore the uses of IT in port Algerian port and how can they implement an efficient management information system. This document is attempt to evaluate management information system in Port authority of Algiers comparing with others port that have long experience in this field; in order to come up with recommendation for efficient uses of IT and spread this experience to others Algerian port.
