An empirical study on the difference of core intangible resources through performance comparison

Abstract

Recently IT (Information and Telecommunication) industry is very rapidly changing and firms are taking efforts to keep up with these changes. These efforts can be summarized as possessing competitiveness, which results in firm’s performance. Therefore, the study to find out what makes the difference between high and low performance firms has been done actively. There are three views on these studies depending on whether the difference of performance is originated from internally, externally or both. Among these three views, resource-based approach is currently noticed as relevant. The purposes of this research are following. First is to draw core intangible resources to make differences of performance by questionnaire surveying the relative importance of resources to competitiveness. Second is to test various hypotheses about performance by drawing core intangible resources. The sample firms in this study are limited to telecommunication industry rather than various industries to increase the accuracy of results. In addition, limitations and suggestions for further studies are noted.
