(A) study on the conceptual design of a 2000 MWe pressurized water reactor2000 MWe 초대형 가압경수로 개념설계에 관한 연구

This study deals with the design concept of the 2,000 MWe class advanced pressurized water reactor, named PWR-2000, which could be suitable to serve as the future energy source after APR1400, 1,400 MWe class advanced PWR. PWR-2000 achieves the high power level by adopting most advanced design features of APR1400 with two choices of fuel assembly type and an additional RCS loop. Design parameters were determined through simple sizing calculation and engineering judgment for core and RCS. As the SIS design of PWR-2000, a new 6-train SIS with DVI used in APR1400 design was suggested. The performance of this SIS was evaluated through the analysis of a double ended guillotine break LOCA by using a system analysis code, MARS2.1, being developed at KAERI. As a result, the peak cladding temperature reached about 1,223 K. Some insufficient results, such as the SI capacity and bypass flow rates due to DVI nozzle elevation, can be completed with the sensitivity study the SIS configurations with DVI. According to the power increment, PWR-2000 can obtain good economical benefits that will be the greatest advantage of this concept. Cost estimate was performed for PWR-2000, based on the costs of APR1400 and KSNP. Consequently, the total plant cost of 873 $/kWe was evaluated, which is considerably less than that of other advanced reactors. In conclusion, PWR-2000 is expected to have balanced features with both economics and safety.
