The stress redistributions around delamination cracks originating from transverse cracking are examined for [90/0]$_s$ cross-ply laminates under two types of deformations, anti-plane shear and plane strain bending. Based upon the method of eigenfunction expansion and the Stroh formalism for anisotropic elastic materials, the asymptotic solutions are constructed. The crack tip singularity and solution structures for each deformation are first obtained from the eigenvalue equation resulting from appropriate near field boundary conditions, and the structures of asymptotic solution are then combined with the hybrid F.E.M to lead to the complete solution under proper remote boundary conditions resulting from the type of loadings. The linear elastic fracture mechanics parametrs such as stress intensity factor and energy release rate are caculated to examine the crack growth stability and the effects of the geometric parameters such as the relative ply thickness.
