For a real-time video signal interface system to computer, an image buffer memory and its control devices are designed and implemented. It is designed for both broadcast TV signal and videophone signal. It can transfer image data either in field rate of frame rate.
Because of speed difference between sampling rate and data transfer rate through computer, only a partial image section is sampled by an image windowing circuit. The memory is divided into several blocks for flexible application and for slow access time. The buffer is controlled for both image data recording and displaying to a monitor.
Overall design procedure and hardware structure are described in detail, and the experimental results are discussed.
