The design of microprocessor based nonlinear position control system with diagnosis features. The accurate position control is required in the various control systems. In case the machine to be controlled has nonlinear characteristics, (i.e. the output shaft position is not linearly proportional to the input data), and the characteristic curve varies according to the operating conditions, the microprocessor based control system is superior to the manually operated control system in respect to the system speed and accuracy, and has much flexibility in that it can control the machine with such characteristics by program. In this thesis, the hardwares (such as the pulse generating circuit and the position detecting circuit directly connected to the microprocessor system buses) and the associated softwares (such as the various data manipulation routines and the speed control routine) are discussed. Besides, several features to test the system operation in real time, and to diagnose the faults for the debugging purpose in the laboratory are also discussed.
