dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the performance of a local area network (LAN) using the code division multiple access (CDMA) method is analyzed. First, a modified time-shifted maximal-length sequence with good autocorrelation characteristics is proposed to improve the performance of CDMA LAN. Also, a new multiaccess protocol which is ideally suitable for transmission of voice and data simultaneously is suggested. Then, a new CDMA LAN with the characteristics mentioned above is modeled as a multiserver queueing system with synchronized multichannels. Moreover, the performance of the proposed CDMA LAN is analyzed by using the model for the fixed and movable boundary schemes. In view of the delay, throughput, channel utilization of data, the movable boundary scheme turns out to be better than the fixed boundary scheme. The blocking (or loss) probability of voice traffic with the movable boundary scheme is less than that of the fixed boundary scheme under the same conditions. | eng |
