This paper presents a new pilot signal design algorithm for a symbol time offset estimator in an OFDM systems. Previously, the evenly spaced pilot signals were used for a symbol time offset estimator, however we investigate the problems immanent in the previous pilot signal design algorithm and propose the new pilot signal design algorithm which can improve those problems improving the system performance eventually. We show the simulation results in the AWGN channel and a dispersive channel indicating the newly designed pilot signal is robust especially in a dispersive channel.
