The objective of this thesis is to study the efficient adaptation
methods for smart antenna in WCDMA reverse link. First, we review
the channel structure of WCDMA reverse link and exploit the
structure of uplink physical channels to find the important
information for implementation of smart antenna. Second, we study
the spatial channel models. We presents the power-controlled
spatial channel model to accept the effect of the closed-loop fast
power control. Next, we present the algorithm structure applicable
to real-time implementation in WCDMA reverse link. To make the
convergence speed of weight adaptor fast, the coherent adaptation
methods are adopted. The performance analysis is given by computer
simulation. The various simulation environments are included to
analyze the performance. Also the performance is verified by the
real-measurement data from our smart antenna testbed.
