dc.description.abstractThis thesis describes a scheme for expanding 8×8 giga-bit switch module to form a larger switch using local switching network and path selection. Expansion using local switching network reduces latency across the switching system. Experiments show that the latency is reduced in the expansion using local switching network compared with one using Clos network. Strategies for path selection are also evaluated. The results indicate latency is achieved with the channel occupation compared with one using random selection.eng
