dc.description.abstractA mild, direct transformation of free carboxylic acids with alcohols or thiols into the corresponding esters or thiol esters by the use of l-fluoro-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene as a condensing agent in the presence of 4-dimethylaminopyridine is described. The scope, limitation, and mechanistic insights of this method were studied. The reactions of 1-fluoro-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene with carboxylic acid, alcohols and thiols in the presence of a base were also examined.eng
