The number of mobile device users increases every year. There are several circuits for different functions in a mobile device and they need different supply voltages. Since each mobile device is usually equipped with a Lithium-ion battery, power conversion circuits with high efficiency are needed to use batteries efficiently as those batteries have a limited capacity. In addition, mobile devices need a fast battery charging circuit with high efficiency to resolve heating problems as well as to shorten a charging time. Moreover, it is also an important part in mobile devices in terms of power management in mobile devices. In this thesis, a hybrid step-up/down dc-dc converter as well as a battery charger circuit are studied for power management in mobile devices.
