In this dissertation, a new rectifier structures adopting a coupled inductor are proposed. By using the rectifier structure, the proposed half-bridge and full-bridge converter overcome limitations of the conventional converters while it keeps the advantages of them. The proposed coupled-inductor-rectifier (CIR) has three major advantages. First, it has small voltage stress in rectifier diodes which enables a use of small voltage stress diodes having low VF. Second, two snubber circuits are eliminated compared with the FBR. It not only decreases cost and complexity of the converter, but it also increases efficiency. Lastly, combined with half-bridge and full-bridge inverters of primary side, the CIR solves the main problems of the conventional converters such as DC-offset current of the transformer and primary freewheeling current. Furthermore, since the proposed converters do not require any additional components even though they have remarkable performances, the proposed converters will be good candidates for various applications.
