For the last few decades, interests in renewable energy sources are increasing due to world-wide energy depletion and environmental problems. In addition, energy storage and energy conversion have received great attention for better utilization of renewable energy sources. Electrochemical energy conversion is a simple and powerful method to convert electrical energy from renewable energy sources into chemical energy. From the energy conversion process, the renewable energy can be more effectively utilized and managed. In this thesis, we tried to design transition metal-based nanostructures for improving electrocatalytic activity and selectivity of OER and CO2RR. In Chapter1, new doping strategy based on Nanoionics was developed and applied to CoOOH electrocatalysts with layered structures. In Chapter2, AgCoS nanowires with plentiful defect sites were synthesized for enhanced OER. In Chapter3, AgCu nanowires with separated domain were synthesized for CO2RR. In chapter4, $Ag@Cu_2O$ core@shell nanoparticles were synthesized for oxidation reaction catalysts.
