Analysis of mass concrete structures with concrete properties by thermal stress device - part II: verification

Experiments conducted to collect experimental data were described in part I of this set of papers. This paper describes analyses of mass concrete structures (MCSs) performed using concrete properties obtained by thermal stress devices, with the analysis results verified using the experimental data in part I. Concrete properties at the surface and the centre of MCSs are first predicted using stresses obtained by thermal stress devices. The predicted concrete properties are then used for the analysis of MCSs in three different ways. First, concrete properties in MCSs are classified into surface and centre properties, based on the temperature history. Second, the concrete properties in MCSs, which are classified into several parts, are predicted using regression analysis of the concrete properties obtained by thermal stress devices and the temperature-time factor. Third, concrete properties at each location of MCSs are predicted using the apparent activation energy. The stresses, total strains and stress-independent strains obtained from analyses of the MCSs are compared with the experimental results reported in part I in order to verify the prediction accuracy.
