Employing the generalized likelihood ratio test and semi-definite programming (SDP), we derive a detection scheme (called the SDP detector) for range-spread targets with unknown Doppler shift. By exploiting a reduced space for the maximization problem, we then derive a simplification, called the maximization in the reduced space (MRS) detector, of the SDP detector to reduce the complexity of the SDP detector. It is confirmed via simulation results that, when knowledge of Doppler frequency is unavailable or incorrectly provided, both the SDP and MRS detectors perform better than the conventional detector.
